Cleaning Tips
Always dust first, starting from the highest part to ensure the dust falls to the floor which is then vacuumed up at the end
Wipe wood surfaces with the grain to avoid streaks.
Never dust a warm / hot light bulb with a damp cloth, as it will shatter the bulb.
A rubber glove will remove pet hair from upholstery and carpet.
Sweep / vacuum floors first to collect the dirt before mopping. Start washing the floor in the farthest corner of the room and work your way towards the door.
Use a cloth on the end of a mop handle to reach the narrow space between appliances.
Place a mat inside and outside each entrance to your home to reduce the dirt brought in on shoes and boots.
A plastic hairbrush will straighten the fringe on carpets. Comb the carpet fringe away from the centre of the carpet.
When cleaning windows, wipe one side of the glass horizontally and the other side vertically. why? Because... when polishing out streaks, it will be easy to determine which side they are on.
A clean lightly dampened cloth, tied around the working end of your dust mop or broom, will take care of cobwebs.
Unclog your drains naturally, flushing your drain with boiling water then adding half a cup of baking soda. Next, add one cup of vinegar and one cup of hot water. Once the bubbles die down run the hot tap water down the drain for about 30 seconds to one minute and hey presto - your drains will be new and improved
Use mail varnish remover to clean stains off white trainer soles
A small hand-held vacuum is useful for vacuuming upholstery and carpeted stairs.
Add a fabric softener sheet to bins to avoid odours.
Use a toothbrush to clean hard-to-reach areas around soap holders, taps and plugs
To unclog lime scale from shower heads, remove and soak the head in boiling water and vinegar.
To clean a picture, wipe the top of the frame first, down the sides and across the bottom. Always spray glass cleaner on your cloth, never directly on the glass, to prevent seepage that could damage the picture.
A dry, clean micro fibre cloth will polish chrome to an eye-catching gleam.
To remove fingerprints from stainless steel appliances, add a small amount of baby oil to a clean, soft micro fibre cloth and wipe.
